From the very beginning my campaign has been about ideas…not empty words and political spins, not vague goals. My ideas are concrete and possible solutions so we can all talk about them and they can be developed to achieve COMMON SENSE SOLUTIONS for the COMMON GOOD of Santa Fe.
I have taken some criticism for tossing in my ideas, some unpopular to some people, to this campaign race instead of taking the safe route. But that’s not me, and I think most people are intelligent enough to want honesty, not politics-as-usual. We have problems in Santa Fe that need to be addressed, and very few NEW solutions to address them. The City Council seems to be largely reactive, instead of proactive. BOLD IDEAS ARE NECESSARY TO START MOVE FORWARD, TO GET US THINKING.
I can’t promise my ideas will happen, but I do promise to make sure the problems they address are not forgotten. I stand behind my initial platform posted months ago. I have talked with many of you over the last months, knocking on doors, forums, and many other venues, and want to add some new ideas and expand somewhat on others. Go to my “A Plan for Santa Fe” page for more.
One critical Common Sense solution for the Common Good is TOTAL DISCLOSURE OF THE CITY’S FINANCES. Why shouldn’t the tax payers of this community see exactly where their money is spent, when it is spent? Why shouldn’t all see the city’s income as well? This is not a difficult thing to do. The state of Missouri has instituted a real time web site of day-to-day income and expenditures for the entire state budget (just click on the link on the left side of this page…This site is easy to use and includes contracts, vendors, and bids. It is a great model to follow). With this knowledge we can ask questions about our water, our public safety, our streets, and all the services the city provides. We can talk about priorities realistically.
LET’S GET THE DISCUSSION ROCKING!!!
Either comment here, on my platform page, or visit and post on the Santa Fe Forum (click on the link on the lower left of this page). Tell me what you think!
